“An insight into the hidden world and culture of travelling people, written with delicacy and affection” – Ken Loach

We are delighted to be welcoming writer and film-maker Damian Le Bas to the Marlow Bookshop to discuss his debut book The Stopping Places.

Featured as Book of the Week on BBC Radio 4, and described by The Guardian as “an illuminating history of Travellers”, The Stopping Places follows Damian on his journey to better understand his Gypsy heritage. This powerful book gives a little-heard voice to the travelling community of Britain, shining a light on the fascinating stories, places and characters within.

Tickets cost £5 and are available to purchase in the shop, or you can telephone us on 01628 473 240. All tickets include a glass of wine or a soft drink, and 20% off a signed copy of The Stopping Places.

“A beautiful book about belonging: both a map of a secret landscape and a rich, thoughtful memoir. Damian Le Bas is the perfect guide… his writing is lyrical, informed, and deeply humane” – Jon Day
